During September 2011, results were received for surface auger geochemistry programs completed to the west of George’s Reward. Conducted on a 100m x 100m spacing closing down to 50m x 50m spacing in areas of gold anomalism, the programs identified two areas of gold anomalism.
The Kanowna Lights Prospect covers an area of 565 hectares and is ideally located in a high gold endowment region just 3kms north of the world class +5 million ounce Kanowna Belle Gold Deposit. It is also 2.5kms northwest of the 1 million ounce Red Hill Deposit and two historical production areas; the 250,000 ounce Kanowna Deep Leads and the 250,000 ounce White Feather reef system.
Exploration at Snake Hill is in its infancy, however, the results to date have exceeded our expectations. The Mt Monger Fault is spatially related to gold deposits in the region and Northern Mining believes this under-explored regional scale feature has the potential to host significant gold mineralisation, similar to other regional structures in the Kalgoorlie district, in particular the Zuleika Shear Zone.
